Church Planting – Randy Rowland – December 2013

Good news and bad news, perhaps.  Let’s start with the good news:  Harbor Church and Awake Church are both meeting in actual church buildings and building momentum internally.  Harbor Church is now the home of a second CRC pastor, Jana Koh, associate to Dr. John Westfall.  The Harbor’s preschool, PATH, is developing at a pleasant rate and attenders of Harbor are becoming members.  That’s good news.  Awake Church is now meeting in the old Zion Lutheran building across from Green Lake.  The move has greatly improved children’s facilities and has also enhanced worship, with the debut of a men’s choir in Christmas clothing, including our friend Andrew Bauman, a respected counselor, in a onesy-nighty.  [blush]  Awake continues to support and enjoy the work of the Aurora Commons, managed in part by Lisa Etter Carlson, founder of the Green Bean Coffee House.  They are doing a great job on Aurora meeting the needs of people on the margins including a women’s day at the Commons that touches the lives of many prostitutes considering getting off the streets.  They also have added a mobile medical clinic that visits the Commons on a set schedule and meets the health needs of many people who would otherwise be ignored.  Pray for Harbor and Awake as they both continue to show us the way!
