GREEN BEAN
The Green Bean Coffeehouse is a non-profit that exists in order to
support our local and global community.
Located at 210 North 85th Street, The Green Bean has been in operation
since May of 2005. After months of remodeling, a once decrepit store
front is now a bright, welcoming community space.
A few things to get to know the Bean:
- We serve only Fair Trade Certified, organic coffee through Brown & Co.
- 50% of our tip jar is used to support a different local or global non-profit each month, 50% goes toward in-house community programming.
- We use our space to sell products that advocate for and support people groups from parts of the world less fortunate than ours.
- Regular programs include a story time for kids, educational programs from art lessons to salsa dancing, open mic, and live music.
- We function by being a space for people to come and be, and also share their ideas and gifts. We are who we are because of all those that walk through the doors.
- A Rotary award was given to Lisa Carlson (Etter) and Hayden Smith to uphold their efforts to create a non-profit business in the Seattle area. Other articles have been written in local Seattle newspapers about their efforts.
